Xavier Sans Fortuny has studied choral conducting with Josep Prats, Laszlo Heltay, Johan Duijck and Pierre Cao; analysis and composition with Benet Casablancas and Josep Soler, and singing with Dolors Aldea, Jerzy Atysz and Carmen Bustamante.

He has been the conductor of the Youth Choir of Tarragona, the choir Voxalba and the Sant Jordi Choir; guest conductor of the Chamber Choir of the Conservatoire of Girona and of the Girl’s Choir of the Orfeó Català and assistant conductor of the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música, of the Tarragona City Choir and the Sant Esteve de Vila-seca Choir.

He has taught harmony, counterpoint and analysis at the Conservatoire of Vila-seca and is a member of the teaching team of the choral conducting courses run by the Catalan Choir Federation FCEC.

His experience as a singer is mainly focused on his participation in various professional chamber ensembles, such as the the Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música (J.Casas), Capella de Música de Santa Maria del Mar -a group he has also occasionally conducted-, Arsys-Bourgogne (P.Cao), Accentus (L.Equilbey), Les Éléments and Ensemble Jacques Moderne (J.Suhubiette), Anima e Corpo Ensemble (M.Gester), La Xantria (P.L.Biosca) and La Capella Reial de Catalunya (J.Savall).

He has participated in several recordings with some of these ensembles.
